Deceased Name: William A. Detamore
June 27, 1923 - April 12, 2004

William A. Detamore, 80, died at 12:30 p.m. Monday in Bradner Village Healthcare Center.

He was born in Mount Vernon, Ohio, the son of the late Percy and Madge B. (Highley) Detamore. He married Eunice Mae McCarty on Feb. 23, 1946. She preceded him in death Aug. 7, 2003.

He was a self-employed metal lather for over 40 years and was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a 50-year member of Local Union No. 615 United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners; a 30-year member of American Legion Post No. 160, Roanoke; and a member of the Marion Horseshoe Club. He enjoyed going to auctions, bowling, horseshoe pitching, reciting poetry, puzzles and games.

Survivors include three daughters, Billie (Roger) Ertel, Converse, Rebecca (Steven) McClure, Roanoke, and Jackie (Ralph) Anderson, Mannsville, Okla.; one brother, Wendell O. Detamore, Marion; one sister, Nora Ernestes, North Vernon; one half-sister, Lillian McCord, California; six grandchildren, Angela (Scott) Haley, Diedra (Jason) Brackins, William Ertel, Brock Ertel, Chris (Jill) Ertel, and Joshua Anderson; three stepgrandchildren, Nancy Bucy, Roger Allen and Cory (Virginia) McClure; five great-grandchildren, Mason Ertel, Shayla Breeden, Will Haley, Kylee Ertel and Jake Brackins; and nine stepgreat-grandchildren, Theresa Gamble, Rachel Gamble, Randy Gamble, Brandon Combs, Kari Collins, Casey Collins, Dalton McClure and Brittany and Tristin Allen.

He also was preceded in death by a brother, Phillip Detamore; a halfbrother, Highley Coan; and two halfsisters, Martha Jones and Mary Ann Decker.

Services are at 2 p.m. Friday in Raven-Choate Funeral Home, 1202 Kem Road, with Bill Sparks officiating. Burial is in Grant Memorial Park cemetery.

Visitation is from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday and 1 p.m. until services Friday at the funeral home.
