Most of my family members came from St. Francois County,
Missouri. Others came from Illinois, Kansas, Oklahoma,

John Lollar, 67, of Douglas, Ariz., died at his home. He was the
son of John Benton and Mayme Ruth Highley Lollar.
After graduating from Hooker schools, he enlisted in the U.S.
Navy, being stationed in Japan. After being discharged, he
returned to Hooker and later married a girl from Douglas, Ariz,
Gloria Villaneuva. They lived in Hooker and he worked at Hooker
Equity, later moving to Guymon where he worked several years at
Adams Hardfacing.
In the late 1970's they moved to Douglas, Ariz and he worked at
the Gasden Hotel where the movie, "The Life and Times of Judge
Roy Bean" was being shot. Johnnie had a small part in the movie
and met the stars, Ava Gardner and Paul Newman.
He had an exceptional singing voice and often performed at the
Pioneer Days talent show, winning first place frequently with
songs such as "Wilburton Mountain" and "Wings of a Dove". Once
he met Johnny Cash and introduced himself as "Johnny No Cash
Lollar".
He was preceded in death by his parents and infant son, Earl; a
sister, Irma Dixon; a brother, Jack; a sister-in-law, Pauline
Lollar; three nieces; three nephew; and a much-beloved Uncle
Mitchel Massa.
Survivors include his wife, Gloria; four brothers; five sisters;
two brothers-in-law; and two sisters-in-law.
Memorial services were 2 p.m. Thurs., Dec. 15 at the Gospel of
Grace Church in Hooker followed by interment in the Hooker
Cemetery.
