John Harvey Highley - 1919-2007
John Harvey Highley, 87, of Ashland, passed away Thursday, June
28, 2007 in Community Hospice Care Center.
He was born Aug. 10, 1919, the son of the late Clell Highley and
Della Alderson Highley Thompson.
He was a WWII Army veteran, a former P.O.W., a member of
Disabled American Veterans and recipient of a Purple Heart.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two
sisters, Opal McDowell and Irene Rymer; and one brother, Chester
Highley.
He is survived by one sister, Zella Claxon of Greenup, Ky.; one
son, Michael Thomas of Ashland; two local nephews, Chester
“Chuck” Highley of Rush, Ky., and Warren Hood of Greenup; and
several nieces and nephews.
There will be no visitation or funeral. Burial will be in
Highley Family Cemetery in Salt Lick, Ky.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Community Hospice,
1538 Central Ave., Ashland, KY 41101 or Disabled American
Veterans.
John will be sadly missed by all family and friends.
