WELCH

Jane L. Highley, born March 19, 1918, died Oct. 26, 1987. Mrs. Welch was born Jane Louise Schaefer in Chicago, Il. to Frank and Margaret Schaefer and moved to Oklahoma at the age of two, and lived in OKC all her life. She married Mont Highley, Jr. in 1940. Mr. Highley preceded her in death in 1961. From this marriage 2 sons were born, Dr. Mont Highley III, Montgomery, Al. and Francis Daniel Highley of Dallas, Tx. Mrs. Welch was active in civic affairs in OKC. She graduated from Our Lady's Scho ol and spent 2 years at St. Mary's of the Woods in Terre Haute, In. She was president of the Junior Hospitality Club 1944-45. She worked as chairwoman of Motor Service at the American Red cross for 10 years, was an auxiliary member and volunteer at Deaconess Hospital, and was a member of Our Lady's Cathedral. She was one of the founders of the Mother's Club at St. Gregory's College and one of the founders of the Womens Division of the Lawyer's Club, and a member of the Ladies Division of the Optimi st Club. She is survived by 2 sons and 5 grandchildren, and 1 cousin, Mary Jean Ostafin. Services will be 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church with the Rev. Michael Roethler officiating. Interment will be at Rose Hill Cemetery.
