Deceased Name: OBIT - HUNDLEY, HOWARD NELSON
Howard Nelson Hundley, 76, of Salem, quietly passed away Friday, October 8, 2004. He was born in Floyd County and had been an area resident for the past 57 years. He served in the Navy Reserve. He then went on to work for and retire from Norfolk Southern Railroad as a brakeman and conductor for 35 years. He was of the Primitive Baptist Faith. He was a car enthusiast and enjoyed working on his farm in Floyd with his family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Dewey S. and Rachel Nichols Hundley. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Ortha Gay Conner Hundley; daughters, Brenda Gail Hundley and Diane Hundley Kelt; grandsons, Jacob, Joshua and Jonah Kelt, as well as many extended family and friends. Funeral services will be held Monday, October 11, 2004 at 2 p.m. in the John M. Oakey & Son Chapel with Elders Junior Conner, W. T. Conner and Lane Carter officiating. Burial will follow in Sherwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, October 10, 2004 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Flowers would be appreciated or memorial contributions may be made to the Fort Lewis Volunteer Rescue Squad. The family is being served by John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home, Salem. 389-5441.
