Deceased Name: HIGHLEY H. COUNTRYMAN
Highley H. Countryman, 81, of Palatine, died Monday in Hines
Veterans Hospital, near Maywood. Mr. Countryman, who was born in
Galveston, Ind., retired in 1979 as an accountant and auditor at
Shell Oil Co., Chicago, Des Plaines and Oakbrook. Mr.
Countryman, who graduated from Kokomo Business College in
Indiana, served during World War II in the Army's 638th tank
destroyer battalion in Europe. He was awarded the
European-African-Middle East campaign ribbon with three bronze
stars. Mr. Countryman up during that his late wife, Anna, was a
Palatine school board member for 20 years. Survivors include
another son, William; a sister, Lois Casper; and six
grandchildren. Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. until the time
of memorial services at 11 a.m. Saturday in Ahlgrim & Sons
Funeral Home, 201 N. Northwest Highway, Palatine.
