Deceased Name: Richard E. "Dick" Coan
Richard E. "Dick" Coan, 75, died at 7:50 a.m. Saturday in Bradner Village Healthcare Center.

He was born May 4, 1930, in Marion to the late Highley and Dorothy B. (Weesner) Coan. He married Marjorie E. Stinson on June 10, 1950. She survives.

He retired from General Motors after 26 years of service and was one of the first members of the United Auto Workers union. He joined the Indiana National Guard and then joined the Navy, serving from 1948 to 1952. He was also a member of and helped to start the local Gold Wing Motorcycle Association.

Additional survivors include daughters Marshelle (Lawrence) Meador, Jonesboro, and Anna (Bob) Anderson, Gas City; sons, Harold (Rita) Coan, Fairmount, and Richard Coan, Marion; sister, Barbara Sroufe, Rio Rico, Ark.; 12 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

He also was preceded in death by sister, Betty Shanahan; and halfbrother Highley Eugene "Gene" Coan.

Services are at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday in Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., with the Rev. Tom Mansbarger officiating. Burial is in Grant Memorial Park cemetery.

Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 10:30 a.m. until Wednesday at the funeral home. Online condolences may be made at www.nswcares.com.
