DANIEL M. HIGHLEY

Dan M. Highley 67, New Palestine, passed away Monday, October 9, 2006. He was born April 28, 1939 in Delaware County, IN to Daniel Webster and Fernie Margaret Cunnington Highley, who have preceded him in death. Dan graduated from Yorktown High School, Class of 1957, and married Lela L. McKinley June 28, 1957. Dan started his career at Merchants Bank in Muncie, IN, then spent two years as Credit Union Examiner for the Indiana State Department of Financial Institutions. He was then employed by the Naval Avionics Employees Credit Union as President for 30 years. A member of Indian Creek Christian Church, Dan and his wife, Lela, loved to travel and spend time with family.

 Visitation will be held Thursday, October 12 from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Shirley Brothers Washington Memorial Chapel, 9606 E. Washington St., with funeral services Friday at 10 a.m. Dan is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Lela L. Highley; son, Duane M. Highley, fiancé Terri Bastin; daughters, Julia E. Cornelius, husband Greg, Janine L. Copeland; grandchildren, Chelsea R. Copeland, Samantha E. Cornelius; brother, Jerry D. Highley, wife Sandi; and nephews, Jerry, Steve and Kent.
