Deceased Name: WABASH - C. Robert Simons: Dec. 15, 1924-June 20,
2003
WABASH - C. Robert Simons, 78, 226 E. Harrison Ave., died at
12:55 a.m. Friday in Select Specialty Hospital, Fort Wayne.
He was born in Plymouth to the late Charles W. and Charlotte B.
(Thomas) Simons. He was a World War II Navy veteran, stationed
in Guam. He married Lois E. Highley at Wabash Christian Church
on June 8, 1947. She survives.
Mr. Simons retired in 1987 from Ford Meter Box Co. after 30
years. He was a 50-year member of Wabash Christian Church where
he was active on many board committees, was an elder emeritus,
trustee and was the church Scoutmaster of Troop 95. He also was
a member of Wabash American Legion Post 15 and the Wabash Fire
Department for nine years, where he assisted in forming the
Emergency Care Unit. He was a former member of the Wabash
Breakfast Exchange Club, serving as president for two terms.
Also surviving are children, Robert Alan (Cheryl), Akron, B.
Douglas (Pamela), LaFontaine, and Debra (Gary) Sale, Kearney,
Mo. a sister, Mary Helen Richards, Bellevue, Ohio and
grandchildren, Tricia (Brian) Linkenhoker, LaFontaine, Rebecca,
Wabash, Brian (Jennifer), Tipton, Robert Thomas, Rochester, and
Gary Lee (Andrea) Agness, Liberty, Mo. and five
great-grandchildren.
He also was preceded in death by two brothers a sister and a
granddaughter, Mary Leigh Sale.
A celebration of life service is at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in
Wabash Christian Church, 110 W. Hill St., with the Rev. Ron Zorn
and Susan Beamer officiating. Burial is in Mississinewa Memorial
Cemetery, Somerset.
Visitation is from 9:30 a.m. until services Saturday at the
church.
Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Ave.,
handled arrangements.
Memorials may be made to Wabash Christian Church.
