Charles L. Highley,73, of 2449 Highway 13, Marion, died Wednesday morning in his home after a long illness. Services: 1 p.m. Friday, Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories, with Masonic services by Mount Hermon Lodge 263 AF&AM. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. today at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home and after noon Friday in the chapel.

Survivors include his wife, Muriel; two sons, Terry of Madison, Wis., and Ernest of Sun Prairie, Wis.; three brothers Ernest of Neosho, Mo., and Bill and Roy, both of Cedar Rapids; and five sisters, Bernice Van Amburg of Cedar Rapids, Nadine Davis of Stockton, Mo., Viola Van Amburg of Goodman, Mo., Nelda Barnes of Anamosa and Donna Anthony of Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif. Also surviving are nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Chuck was born the son of Earnest and Daisy Highley on Jan. 17, 1919, in Salem, Mo., and married Muriel Hanssen on Sept. 2, 1939. Chuck retired in 1981 as assembly superintendent for Iowa Manufacturing Co., where he was employed for 38 years. He was a member of Maranatha Bible Church, Mount Hermon Masonic Lodge No. 263 AF&AM, Daytime Lodge No. 671, Ambar Grotto and High Twelve Club. He served in the Navy during World War II.

The Rev. Edward Davis of Maranatha Bible Church will officiate. A memorial fund has been established.
