Deceased Name: Aurilla Ann (John) Highley
March 22, 1916 - Sept. 11, 2004
Aurilla Ann (John) Highley, 88 1525 W Timberview, Apt 335, died
at 4:27 a.m. Saturday in Bradner Village Health Care Center.
Mrs. Highley was born in Point Isabel to the late Ralph C. and
Alma (Hinton) John. She was married to Lowell R. Highley, who
preceded her in death. She originally worked at Farnsworth Radio
and then she and her husband owned and operated the Highley Gulf
Station on South Washington Street near McCulloch School. After
raising her family, she worked at different jobs including JC
Penney Co., Lovely Ladies Shop and Custer's Lumber. She was a
longtime member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Marion, First
United Methodist Church, YWCA and the Senior Center. She enjoyed
music, including singing with the Sweet Adelines Chorus and
playing the piano at Cambridge Square and Marion-Grant County
Senior Center. She also enjoyed playing euchre with her friends
at Cambridge Square and writing poetry.
Survivors include sons, Dan J. (Sandra) Highley, Logansport, and
Robert D. (Kerry) Highley, Sweet-ser; grandchildren, Gregory,
Danielle, Adrienne, Nicholas (Melissa) and Patrick Highley, and
Kristina (Robert) Young; and great-grandchildren, Brittany and
MacKenzie Highley.
She also was preceded in death by a daughter, Janis Myers;
grandson, Lowell "Joe" Highley; and a brother, Leo C. John.
Services are at 10 a.m. Friday in Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral
Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., with the Rev.
Matthew Stultz officiating. Burial is in Grant Memorial Park
cemetery.
Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to Marion Grant County Senior Center, 503
South Gallatin, Marion, Ind. 46953.
